Athens won the Class 6A state wrestling championship last week following a top-notch performance.

The Golden Eagles, coached by Andrew Campbell, finished with 146 points — clearing runner-up Pike Road (133) and Mountain Brook (128.5) with room to spare.

Jaxon Unger (138 pounds), Will Anderson (144) and Austin Campbell (165) captured individual crowns in their respective divisions, while Lakin Poff (120) and Carter Campbell (150) earned second-place finishes. Bryce Schwan (175 — fifth place) and Brice Emory (115 — sixth place) also contributed for Athens.
