On Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, Limestone County Sheriff Deputy Nathan Greene responded to a burglary at storage units in the 25000 block of Nick Davis Rd, according to a release from the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
After reviewing the area’s security video, Greene developed two suspects and notified Captain Caleb Durden. The suspects had a switched tag on the vehicle stolen from a local church.
Shortly after Greene and Durden left, a 56-year-old Athens woman returned to the scene of the crime, driving the same car and wearing the same clothes as she was when captured on a nearby security camera.
The property owner subsequently called the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office to notify them of the offender’s return, and deputies who were still in the area quickly responded.
Greene and Lieutenant Richard Clanton were able to take the woman into custody, while she was in possession of marijuana and stolen property. During the ongoing investigation, Durden learned of a possible location for other stolen items and the location of the other offender.
Durden and Clanton responded to the Budget Inn in Ardmore, Alabama, and located a 37-year-old Ardmore, Tennessee, man, a 53-year-old Harvest man and a 35-year-old Prospect, Tennessee, woman in a room.
About $5,000 in stolen property was located with the 37-year-old Ardmore man. All three were also found to be in possession of Methamphetamine.
The 53-year-old Harvest man and the 35-year-old Prospect woman had possession of a cut catalytic converter without the proper paperwork. The stolen church tag was located in a dumpster at the motel.
“I commend the diligent work of Deputy Greene, Captain Durden and Lieutenant Clanton for their dedication and exceptional efforts in combating crime,” Limestone County Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin stated in the release. “We remain committed to holding criminals accountable and continue our efforts to reduce property crime in Limestone County.”
The 37-year-old Ardmore, Tennessee, man was charged with two counts of Burglary in the Third Degree, Possession of Burglar’s Tools and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine). His bond has been set at $10,000.
