Restaurant Week

Athens Main Street will hold their second annual Restaurant Week from Aug. 11-25 in downtown Athens. The event, presented by Dream Key Real Estate, will bring an unforgettable dining experience to the downtown district. A unique photo booth will also be set up on the courthouse lawn to accompany the event. Other restaurants will also feature special dishes and drinks for patrons during the event. Annual Revival

Little Ezekiel M.B. Church, at 16439 Lindsey Road in Tanner, will host their three-day Annual Revival on Monday, Aug. 12, through Wednesday, Aug. 14. The revival is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. each day, with different guest choirs each night. Host pastor Rev. Charles N. Simmons and Rev. Michael Timberlake will deliver the word.

Meet the Authors

The Athens-Limestone County Public Library will host Bethany Hill and Dawn W. Hogan, authors of “Feisty Deeds,” a collection of 23 stories from women from the 1470s to the 1960s, on Thursday, Aug. 15, at 6 p.m. The book will be available for purchase at the meet and greet event, with all proceeds going to the Women Fiction Writers Association Scholarship fund.

Todd Cemetery Decoration Day

Todd Cemetery will host their annual decoration day on Saturday, Aug. 17. If eligible participants are not able to attend, they can send their donations to Allen Todd, 31866 AL Highway 99 in Anderson, AL 35610.

Fall Vegetable Gardening Workshop

The Limestone County Master Gardners will host a free workshop on Saturday, Aug. 17, on tips and trick to fall vegetable gardening. The event, which will be taught by Master Gardeners Owen and Allyson Hofer, will begin at 10 a.m. at the Limestone County Extension Office, 1109 West Market Street.

Meet the Author

Debra Webb, a USA Today bestselling author, will be available for a public meet and greet at the Athens-Limestone County Public Library Community Room on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Greene Books will have Webb’s latest release, “Deeper Than The Dead,” available for purchase on the day.

Friends of the Archives Meeting

Friends of the Archives will meet Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Limestone County Archives, located at 102 W. Washington St. The meeting has been scheduled for 5 p.m., interested members of the public are welcomed to attend.

Evening with Lori King-Taylor, M.Ed

The Athens-Limestone County Public Library will host an Evening with Lori King-Taylor, M.Ed, at the Athens State University Launchbox on the Square on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. King-Taylor is an educator, speaker, certified John Maxwell trainer, coach and founder of Trinity Performance Solutions. She will talk about her latest book, “What I Would Tell My Eighteen Year Old Self.”

Swamp John’s Meals

Swamp John’s Meal, sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans, will give out a plate of food for $15 at the Limestone County Sheriff’s Rodeo Arena on Highway 99. Summer Sippin’

Athens Main Street will hold their inaugural Summer Sippin’ event, which will allow merchants to provide patrons with a special summer drink while they shop for summer deals. The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 4-8 p.m. Merchants will also compete for the patrons votes to be crowned the inaugural Summer Sippin’ Champion. Summerfest

The third annual summer concert on the square in downtown Athens, Summerfest, will return on Saturday, Aug. 24. The event is set to start at 5:30 p.m. on the east-side steps of the Limestone County Courthouse. All guest are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs for the event that is going to last till 8:30 p.m.

Driftwood Dragonfly Gathering

Driftwood Dragonfly Tea Shop, located at 405 W. Washington St., will host a monthly reiki meet up on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m. For more information please visit https://www.driftwooddragonfly.com/events.

Four Day Revival Program

Walnut Grove Community Church will host a four day Revival from Wednesday, Aug. 28, until Saturday, Aug. 31. Each day’s program will begin at 6:30 p.m., at 27600 Walnut Grove Road in Lester. Wednesday through Friday will be preaching, and on Saturday there will be singing.

Meet the Author

The Athens-Limestone County Public Library will host Sarah Crouch, author of “Middletide,” on Thursday, Aug. 29, in the library community room. Greene Books will have several copies of Crouch’s debut novel available for purchase.

PAWS at the Park Dog Walk

The Limestone Child Advocacy Center announced the upcoming PAWS at the Park dog walk event, scheduled for Saturday, September 14, from 9 a.m. to noon at Big Spring Park in Athens.This family-friendly event will invite dog lovers and their furry companions to join in a one-mile stroll through the historic Downtown Athens area, followed by a vibrant festival filled with exciting activities and games tailored for both dogs and their owners.

Fiddlers 5K and Fun Run

The Athens State University Alumni Association will host the Fiddlers 5k Race and Kids Fun Run event on Saturday, Sept. 28. The event, which is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m., will begin and end at Athens State University to showcase the historic downtown district. Cemetery Stroll

The annual Athens Cemetery Stroll will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Costumed re-enactors will portray individuals representing all walks of life from the county’s past on the grounds of Athens City Cemetery in this outdoor theatrical program. Planning Meetings

The Crisis Services of North Alabama are seeking passionate individuals to help plan their Domestic Violence Awareness Month event on Oct. 1. The event task force will look to shape an event that will raise awareness and support for survivors. They will host their planning meetings on Mondays, starting on Monday, Aug. 12, at 5:30 p.m. at The Family Resource Center. All survivors and interested community members are welcomed to attend. Driftwood Dragonfly’s Events

Athens’ premier handcrafted organic tea and artisan market, Driftwood Dragonfly, will hold a weekly “Tea Talk” every Friday in the month of August. Athens-Limestone County Public Library hosts a crochet club every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for every skill level. Bring your current projects to work on or help others learn.

Digital Literacy Classes

Athens-Limestone County Public Library will host a series of Digital Literacy Classes in conjunction with Calhoun Community College & Drake State Community & Technical College. Classes will boost your digital confidence & provide you with skills and training needed in today’s job market. The Athens-Limestone County Public Library will host its Adult Color and Coffee event on the 4th Friday of each month from 9 a.m. — 12 p.m.

The James L. Daniels unit 51 of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary will host its monthly meeting on the second Saturday of each month at 2 p.m.

Delivered plate lunches

The Lighthouse Pentecostal Church hosts a monthly plate lunch sale for its land/building fund. Each plate is $13 and must be ordered by the Wednesday before the second Friday of the month and can be purchased at lapc.churchcenter.com/people/forms/686458, marie9404@gmail.com or (256) 998-0195. Each month has a new menu that can be found on the church’s Facebook page the week before. Deliveries begin as early as 10:30 a.m. to the Athens, Elkmont, Ardmore and Tanner areas.

Food giveaway

Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church’s food pantry will be open 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month at 1911 Hine St., Athens. Patrons must provide proof of at least one of the following: eligibility to receive supplemental food assistance (SNAP/food stamps); eligibility for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families; eligibility to receive Supplemental Security Income; income at or below 130 percent of the federal poverty level; or special circumstances. Eligibility forms provided at distribution site. Must have valid ID card or driver’s license. Only one distribution per household while supplies last. Monetary and food donations accepted. Book club

The Athens-Limestone County Public Library will host its new monthly Book Club at the library on the second Tuesday of every month.

Community outreach day

Freshwind Christian Fellowship is partnering with Women Empowering Women of Alabama to create a day of fun for the whole family every fourth Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at 17200 Lucas Ferry Rd. in Athens through October.
