Fall camp kicked off this week for numerous teams around the state, including a few in The News Courier’s coverage area — with the season set to open on August 22.

Quick Hitter: First-year Clements coach Brick Pugh is the son of former longtime coach Jeff Pugh, who held tenures at East Limestone, Crossville and West Limestone.

Coach Speak: “It’s my first year here, but I’ve been around a field house my whole life for as long as I remember. These kids are working hard and that’s getting me excited for the season. I can’t wait to see what they can do. Our motto is you won’t, we will — just being the best person you can be, best friend, best classmate. Wins and losses are what they are, but if they can live up to that motto and they’re a man by the time they leave this program, that’s all I care about.”
