LSCO: 2 arrested for 1.7 grams of fentanyl in traffic stop

Two people were arrested June 21 for drug charges, according to a release from the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

Friday, June 21, Captain Caleb Durden was working a traffic grant looking for impaired drivers on local roadways. He observed a suspicious vehicle traveling west on Highway 72 in the area of Mooresville Road. The vehicle only had one operational headlight, and when it went south on Mooresville Road, Durden made a traffic stop.

Based on previous investigations, Durden recognized the driver as Jamey Dan Dobbins of Hartselle. The passenger was identified as Alyssa Mary Turner of Athens.

Probable cause was found to search the vehicle, and 1.7 grams of fentanyl was located, among other drug-related items.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Dobbins was soliciting prostitution with drugs and money.

Turner, 25, of Athens, was arrested for Trafficking Dangerous Drugs (fentanyl) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Turner is held in the Limestone County Jail on a $51,000 bond. Dobbins, 57, of Hartselle was arrested for Trafficking Dangerous Drugs (Fentanyl), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Soliciting Prostitution. Dobbins is held in the Limestone County Jail on a $52,000 bond.
