Deputy arrests fleeing man charged with burglary

According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Uziel Vazquez responded June 23 to the 19000 block of East Limestone Road on report of a burglary.
Upon arrival, he observed forced entry to the residence and learned that the victim was home at the time of the incident.
The offender fled on foot before his arrival, leaving his vehicle behind. Vazquez identified the offender as Robert Carlton Holland.
Vazquez began to search the area for the offender and spotted him attempting to leave in his truck. When Holland spotted the deputy, he left his vehicle and fled on foot.
Vazquez found Holland hiding behind a tree and was able to take him into custody without incident.
Holland, 52, of Athens, was arrested for Burglary 2nd Degree and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement. He is held in the Limestone County Jail on a $6,000 bond.
