The Pryor Field Airport Authority announced the planning for the second North Alabama Airfest is taking off.
The airshow, which will bring thousands from far and near to Pryor Field Regional Airport (DCU), is expected to take place in late 2025 or early 2026.
This family-friendly event was first held in June 2023 with support from the local communities as well as those from out-of-state.
“Pryor Field’s first-ever airshow was a huge success,” Adam Fox, airport director, said. “We set out to provide a platform that would allow people to visit the airport to learn about the aviation/aerospace industry, as well as get excited about the growth of this niche in North Alabama. We accomplished that goal.”
Faith Hooper, the authority’s chairwoman, said, “I am thrilled to support the North Alabama Airfest at Pryor Field — an exciting weekend that will showcase our region’s vibrant aviation industry, inspire the next generation of aviators and highlight the significant growth happening at Pryor Field.”
The North Alabama Airfest will feature world-renowned aerobatic performers, historic warbirds and cutting-edge aircrafts. Attendees should look forward to breathtaking stunts, precision flying and an up-close look at a variety of military and civilian aircraft.
The event will also include food vendors, merchandise tents and a dedicated kids’ zone with educational activities to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.
The North Alabama Airfest is one of the Tennessee Valley’s most thrilling, action-packed events. However, this airshow event is much more than just a weekend for thrill seekers or aviation enthusiasts.
Large events such as the North Alabama Airfest bring thousands of people into North Alabama’s communities to enjoy all the things that make Alabama a great place to live, work and play.
Local leaders such as Danielle Gibson, president/CEO of Decatur Morgan County Tourism, were asked what this type of event means to them in regard to our local communities.
“The North Alabama Airfest at Pryor Field has a significant economic impact on our local communities, generating revenue through tourism, hospitality, and local business engagements,” Gibson said. “This event attracts visitors from near and far, boosting sales for hotels, restaurants, and retail establishments, while also promoting regional pride and visibility.”
Pryor Field Airport Authority is once again partnering with David Schultz Airshows, an airshow coordinator, operations and event company for the North Alabama Airfest.
David Schultz Airshows will coordinate all the air and ground operations to ensure a safe and fun experience.
As preparations for the second North Alabama Airfest take flight, organizers are seeking support to ensure the event is bigger and better than ever.
“Partnerships are the key to success. Airshows are an excellent platform for businesses to get their brand in front of thousands,” Fox said. “We have a variety of options that provide brand visibility, potential customer engagement opportunities, media exposure, and exclusive access for VIPs.”
Sponsorship packets will soon be available. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Fox, at afox@flydcu.com or by calling (256)-355-5770.
