The city of Athens Water Department is working to restore water and water pressure to customers following the announcement on the 

At 1:47 p.m.,water pressure was expected to return within the hour, updated Athens Water Department Manager Jimmy Junkin on the city’s Facebook page.

Athens State University stated that due to the ongoing water outage the City of Athens is experiencing, Athens State University will move to remote operations at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, May 29.

All scheduled classes will be held remotely where possible. Students are encouraged to contact their instructors for specific information. Normal business hours and class schedules are expected to resume on Thursday, May 30.
