County Softball

West Limestone capped an impressive performance this past weekend with a championship. 

The Class 4A No. 5 Wildcats knocked off Ardmore 3-1 in the finale of the Limestone County Softball Tournament on Saturday at Tanner High School to complete their 3-0 effort, improve to 24-5-2 and — perhaps most importantly — secure the coveted hardware that with it comes endless bragging rights. 

West Limestone opened the annual showdown on Thursday with wins over Ardmore (4-1) and Elkmont (11-1). 

JuliAnn Kyle pitched a dandy in the title bout, striking out 11 batters in five innings. She allowed three hits and an earned run.

The Wildcats scored all of their three runs in the first inning following a two-run single by Kyle and RBI double by Lilee Legg. 

Ardmore’s Ashlyn Mullins homered in the second frame to account for her team’s lone run. The Tigers are now 15-11.
