Several local volleyball standouts were recognized when AL.com announced on Friday this year’s All-State Teams, Super All-State Team, Players of the Year and Coaches of the Year.

Athens Bible’s Claire Holt and Brooke Blakely (Class 1A), Clements’ Leah Childress (Class 3A) and Lindsay Lane’s Lydia Carter (Class 2A) all made the first-team cut in the respective classifications following superb seasons. Athens’ Ka’Miah Walker (Class 6A), Lindsay Lane’s Ashleigh Sutterfield (Class 2A) and West Limestone’s Lily Bethune (Class 4A) were honorable mentions.

Childress was also highlighted in the “Next 25” group as part of the Super All-State Team.
