Students in the Limestone County Schools’ Advanced Agriculture program walk a group of fifth graders through the process of cotton being processed at a gin.

During the past week, Limestone County Schools fifth graders learned a lot about “Alabama snow” and its uses.

The Associated Growers Co-Op on Brownsferry Road opened its doors to the county’s students to show what happens to one of the area’s most iconic crops.

While the cotton gin was provided by the co-op, the tours were given by students in the advanced agriculture program, allowing older students to pass along the knowledge they have gained to their younger counterparts.
