Coach Speak: “Ardmore versus East has always been a big county rivalry. Neither one of us had a season that we envisioned, but when you get to a game of this magnitude, records don’t matter. This game is a chance for both of our teams to close the season on a good note. You are playing for pride and bragging rights in this game, so it is bigger than just football.” — Ardmore’s Jonathan Snider
Non-Region Game
Game: Athens (6-2) at Fort Payne (5-3)
Quick Hitter: Both the Golden Eagles (40.3) and Wildcats (43.1) rank in the Top 6 in Class 6A in points per game.
Coach Speak: “Fort Payne is one of the top offenses in the state regardless of classification. Their quarterback is a heck of a player and he creates a lot of issues for opposing defenses. They’ve given us fits these past two years when we’ve played them, so we’ve got a heck of a challenge ahead of us.” — Athens’ Cody Gross
Class 3A, Region 8
Game: Clements (5-4, 2-3) at Phil Campbell (3-5, 1-4)
Quick Hitter: A victory over the Bobcats would give the Colts their most wins in a season since 2019, when they also recorded six triumphs.
Class 3A, Region 8
Game: Elkmont (4-4, 2-3) at Colbert County (4-4, 3-2)
Quick Hitter: The Red Devils have scored 200 points so far this season — their most since totaling 344 in 2014.
Class 7A, Region 4
Game: James Clemens (6-3, 5-1) at Grissom (2-6, 1-5)
Quick Hitter: The Jets, who are 9-0 all-time against the Tigers, will claim the region title with a victory on Thursday night.
Non-Region Game
Game: Booneville, Miss. (7-2) at Tanner (7-2)
Quick Hitter: The Rattlers are averaging 41 points per tilt while the Blue Devils are allowing just 12.3 points per tilt.
Coach Speak: “Booneville is very athletic and big. The strength of their team is their quarterback, who I believe is a college-level quarterback. We have got to be able to send pressure on their quarterback and then stop their rushing attack, so our defensive line will be key in this game.” — Tanner’s Oscar Bonds
Class 4A, Region 7
Game: Rogers (2-6, 2-4) at West Limestone (5-4, 2-4)
Quick Hitter: A win over the Pirates would assure the Wildcats of their first winning season since 2020.
Coach Speak: “Regardless of how this season turns out, for these senior players, this will be the game they remember the most. We’ve been working really hard this week to send them out on a win. You know what you’re going to get when you play Rogers. They play a tough and physical brand of football, so we are going to have to be ready for them when they get here.” — West Limestone’s Shelby Davis
