Athens woman in custody after Wednesday morning shooting

On Oct. 23, 2023, at about 5:42 a.m., officers with the Athens Police Department responded to the 700 block of Brownsferry Street for a subject that had been shot.

The investigation concluded that the victim had been asleep when the accused, Mary Natasa Lashinta Noble, 25, entered the residence with a firearm and began demanding money from the victim. After an altercation ensued, the victim was shot by Noble. The victim remains in ICU at Hospital Hospital.

At 11:25 p.m., Noble was arrested at Athens Police Department and booked in on the following charges: Burglary in the First Degree and Assault in the First Degree.

At this time, Noble is held at the Limestone County Jail, and bond has not been set.

The Athens Police Department would like the citizens of Athens to know that this was an isolated event and not a random violent crime.
