Gold rush: Area seniors win big at Masters Games

Limestone County’s Pickleball representatives at the 2023 Masters Games in Valley. The inaugural Courts Against Cancer Pickleball Tournament will be on June 29-30 at Big Spring Memorial Park.

Limestone County senior athletes returned from the 2023 Master Games held in Valley, Ala. with an impressive haul of more than 40 medals won.

Athens hosted district competitions in several events this past June and those who qualified competed against competitors from throughout the state. This is the first state games held since 2019 due to the COVID pandemic.

The 2023 Master Games medalists are as follows.

Masters Games of Alabama is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles for active adults ages 50 and older. The goal of the games is to promote social, mental and physical activities for this age group.
