PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Local teams shine at tournaments

- West Limestone’s middle school volleyball team won the Athens Invitational on Saturday.
Ardmore’s junior varsity volleyball team and West Limestone’s middle school volleyball team won their respective tournament titles over the weekend.
The Tigers triumphed in their 2023 Tiger Bash. Athens Bible finished second. The Wildcats, meanwhile, bested the competition at the Athens Invitational.
Athens Bible School’s varsity volleyball team, meanwhile, defeated Woodville (25-8, 29-27, 25-19) in an area match last Thursday.
Claire Holt (13 kills, 12 digs and six blocks), Brooke Blakely (seven kills and two blocks) and Anna Beth Burns (20 set assists) had the top contributions.
The team also competed in the Brooks Tournament over the weekend, beating West Morgan and losing to Brooks and New Albany (Miss.) in pool play.
Athens Bible then fell to Alexandria in bracket play.
Holt (26 kills, eight blocks and two aces), Blakely (10 kills) and Burns (47 set assists) had the top contributions.
East Limestone’s varsity volleyball team competed in the Guntersville Tournament.
The Indians defeated St. John Paul II, Scottsboro and Douglas — and fell to Spring Garden and Sand Rock.
