Athens’ varsity girls soccer team came up short Monday night, falling to No. 6 Cullman 4-3 at home in a tough Class 6A matchup.

The Golden Eagles dropped to 6-7-3 this season following the loss, while the Bearcats — paced by Mimi Lunsford’s four goals — improved to 12-2.

The Golden Eagles were set to host Columbia on Tuesday and will welcome in Buckhorn on Thursday.
