Athens teen struck, killed by car

An Athens juvenile was killed late Tuesday night when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle. When officers with the Athens Police Department arrived at the scene at US 72 West and Brownsferry Street, they found Josu Velasquez, 13, of Athens, deceased.

The accident occurred at approximately 11:50 p.m., July 5. APD reports that the driver is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
