SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (AP) — Police say a teenager has died after being shot by a gun linked to a series of weapon thefts in north Alabama.
The Jackson County Sentinel reports that 17-year-old Anthony Scott died Friday morning.
Scottsboro police Capt. Erik Dohring says Scott was shot in the face Wednesday while with other youths who were playing with several guns. Dohring says those guns have been linked to a series of weapon thefts that were previously reported in the area.
A 16-year-old is charged with assault in the shooting, and Dohring says more serious charges could be added. He says no decision will be made before Monday.
The spokesman says another juvenile was arrested on a theft charge.
