MCINTOSH, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama woman has been charged with capital murder in the death of her 7-year-old stepson, who was found dead in a burning house over the weekend.
News outlets report Jacqueline Stewart was booked into jail Monday. The McIntosh Volunteer Fire Department responded to the McIntosh house fire early Sunday and found Case Ketchum dead. Stewart had escaped the blaze.
It’s unclear if Stewart has a lawyer or if anyone else was present during the fire. Authorities did not immediately release a motive or identify the fire’s cause.
