- Pastor Donald Terry of Truth Baptist Church in Athens is inundated with Silly String during vacation Bible school last week. Girls and boys attending VBS were in competition to see which team could bring in the most canned food for Hearts for Homeless. The winning team got a chance to spray the pastor. The girls team had a comfortable lead the first two nights, but the boys came back on nights three and four. Both teams brought more food on the final night, Family Night, but the girls ultimately prevailed with 255 items to 179 for the boys. “We are so proud of our kids for being so eager to help Hearts and their ministry and we're thankful to the parents who helped the kids make this happen,” said a statement from the church. “We are a loving church at Truth Baptist Church and we care about the people in our community and surrounding areas.”
