Athens-Limestone Hospital Wellness Center recently celebrated 20 years of service.

The center, at 209 Fitness Way in Athens, opened in 1999 with the goal of providing quality service to its members.

The Wellness Center, a 30,000-square-foot facility, provides group fitness classes, child care, a 75-foot lap pool, a heated therapy pool, whirlpool, physical therapy services, massage therapy and 24-hour access to the gym seven days a week.

Wellness Center Director Blake Lane said 24/7 key tag access started last year after the Wellness Center in East Limestone closed. Members, however, have access to other Wellness Centers, including those in Madison, Huntsville, Jones Valley and Decatur.

Though the gym and lockers are open, the pool is closed unless staff is available.

The pool closes at 8:45 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 7:15 p.m. Fridays, 3:45 p.m. Saturdays, and 4:45 p.m. Sundays.

The center is also offering swim lessons this summer. A schedule is available on the website.

“Definitely come check us out,” Lane said. “We offer three-day guest passes if you’ve never been before.”

Lane said the staff has degrees in their fields, which separates the Wellness Center from everybody else.
