1 killed in 3-vehicle crash in Athens

Emergency crews work the scene of a fatality Sunday night at the intersection of U.S. 31 and Moyers Road.

One person was killed and three people were injured Sunday night in a three-vehicle crash with a vehicle fire on U.S. 31 at Moyers Road, according to a press release from the city of Athens.

The name of the fatality has not been released by Athens police. One person was taken to Huntsville Hospital. Two others were taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital, the release said.

U.S. 31 south will be closed for another two hours while crews work the scene.
