County softball tournament begins today

The latest rendition of the Limestone County Softball Tournament will begin today, with games at both Elkmont High School and Elkmont City Park.

The tournament begins with two simultaneous games at 4:30 p.m. No. 4 seed West Limestone will play fifth-seeded Clements at City Park, while No. 3 seed Elkmont will take on sixth-seeded Tanner at the high school field.

The winners of those games will advance to play later Friday, with the winner of the West Limestone-Clements game taking on top-seeded Ardmore at 6:15 p.m. at City Park, and the winner of the Elkmont-Tanner game taking on No. 2 seed East Limestone at 6:15 at the high school field.

The losers of the Friday night games will drop into the loser’s bracket, which will begin play at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The winner’s bracket final will take place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, with the loser’s bracket final following at 2:15.

The championship game between the winner’s bracket and loser’s bracket final winners, will be at 4 p.m., with the loser’s bracket final winner needing to win twice. An if-necessary second game would take place at 5:45.

All games Saturday with the exception of a 9 a.m. loser’s bracket game will take place at the Elkmont High softball field.

Ardmore is the defending tournament champion, having defeated East Limestone in the championship game last year, when the tournament was hosted by the Indians.
