An Athens-based company was recognized Tuesday by the Tennessee Valley Authority at the utility’s seventh annual TVA Supplier Diversity Outreach Summit, according to a press release.

Engineered Solutions, Inc., received TVA’s Diverse Supplier of the Year Award, the release said. According to the company’s website, Engineered Solutions, Inc., has worked on a number of projects at Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.

In the past five years, TVA has increased its annual spending with diverse suppliers by 65 percent from $269 million to $445 million. TVA’s total Valley business spend in fiscal year 2018 was more than $2 billion.

“Utilizing small, diverse and Valley businesses creates a positive economic impact in our local communities where these companies operate and create jobs,” says Rebecca Tolene, vice president TVA Supply Chain & Enterprise Improvement. “In providing us with quality products and services at competitive prices, they play an important role in helping TVA deliver on its mission of service to the people of the Valley.”
