Athens police this week formally charged a Paint Rock man in connection to the robbery of a Dollar General store.
Investigators believe 28-year-old Colton Eugene Fikes is the man seen on surveillance video in the Dollar General near the intersection of U.S. 31 and U.S. 72. The suspect told a clerk he had a gun and demanded money. No one was injured in the incident, which occurred at about 5:30 p.m. March 20.
Fikes was charged with first-degree robbery. After being booked at the Athens Police Department, he was taken to the Limestone County Jail. Bond had not been set as of Friday morning.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Fikes earlier this week on robbery charges. He’s a suspect in robberies of Dollar General stores in Huntsville, Decatur and Wilsonville, which is in Jackson County.
