The release said Fikes was arrested after members of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division and Athens police executed a search warrant at a residence on County Road 401 in Jackson County. The release said evidence and items were found linking Fikes to the robberies.

Athens police had been seeking a suspect in connection with the March 26 robbery of a store near the intersection of U.S. 72 and U.S. 31. A white bearded male approached the clerk, told her he had a gun and demanded money. No one was injured in the incident.

Additional charges are anticipated in other jurisdictions, the release said.
