East Limestone and Athens both participated in the Bob Jones softball tournament over the weekend, and each took victories.

East went 2-1 in the Bob Jones softball tournament Friday and Saturday, defeating Boaz and Hopkinsville before falling to Gardendale.

East scored five runs in the top of the first inning against Boaz and cruised to an 8-0 win Friday evening. Cassidy Sowell had two doubles to lead the Indians, while Zoey Allen, Allie Drake and Mallory Jo Mitchell also hit doubles. Kaci Sharp had two his in the victory as well. Rylie Grisham was the winning pitcher, tossing a complete-game shutout on six hits.

East Limestone’s bats stayed hot in the second game, as they roared past Hopkinsville 15-3 Friday night.

Grisham and Sharp both hit home runs, while Mitchell had a triple and Allen, Drake and Becca Newby each hit doubles. Olivia Crouch was the winning pitcher, allowing three hits and no earned runs.

East Limestone closed the tournament with a 4-1 loss to Gardendale Saturday morning. Grisham had two hits and an RBI to lead East, while Sharp, Allen and Madison Watkins also had hits for the Indians.

Athens took three wins in the tournament, defeating Gardendale, White House and Lawrence County.

The Golden Eagles overcame a 4-1 deficit in the first game to defeat Gardendale 6-5 Friday night. Jordyn Johnson had three hits to lead Athens, while Alli Patterson, Anna Carder and Mary Greg Anderson had two hits each. Skylar Anderson was the winning pitcher.

Athens then took a 5-2 win over White House, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead. Johnson had a triple and Kadence Miller and Morgan Stiles each hit a double. Emma Ogden also had two hits for the Golden Eagles. Anderson pitched a complete game to pick up the victory.

Athens got its final win of the tournament against Lawrence County, holding on for a 5-4 victory. Stiles, Anderson, Ogden and Gracie Green each had two hits for Athens, with Ogden and Stiles also hitting doubles.

Deann Motquin was the winning pitcher, and Anderson pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to get the save.

Ardmore 4, Caldwell County (Ky.) 2

Ardmore scored four early runs and held off a comeback attempt by Caldwell County Friday.

Olivia Stafford had a hit and an RBI for Ardmore, while Reagan McNeill drove in two runs for the Tigers.

Sydney Hall allowed two runs on five hits to get the win in a complete-game effort.

Ardmore 16, Arab 5

Madison Lewis and Brionna Daly drove in three runs each to lead Ardmore to a big win over Arab Friday.

Lewis, Bo Riley and LB Smith each hit a double, while Reagan McNeill had a hit and drove in two runs.
