• Fish fry. Pettusville United Methodist Church will host a fish fry fundraiser 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the church, to benefit the church’s building fund. Plates are $10 each and include fish, slaw, hushpuppies, fries, dessert and drink. Eat-in and carryout available.

• Singing. Tabernacle Baptist Church will host a singing 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at 24318 Drawbaugh Road, Athens. The Pylant Family and The Jackson Family will perform.

• Senior citizen day. Davids Temple Church will honor senior citizens during its service 11 a.m. Sunday, April 14, at the church on Stewart Road in Tanner.

• Friends and family day. Lighthouse Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Salem will hold a friends and family day 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14. Chris Jewell will be guest minister. A meal will be served after the service, along with games and fellowship. We would love to see all those who have attended Lighthouse through the years come together on this special day. • Gospel Singing. First Independent Methodist Church will host gospel singing with Marvin Morrow 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the church at 13904 Zehner Road, Athens.

• Community holy week. First Presbyterian Church on the Square in Athens will host community holy week services noon April 15–19 at the church. Each service will last about 30 minutes with lunch to follow in the Rodgers Center. The following ministers will speak: Rev. Drew Ellis of Athens Church, Monday; the Rev. Joel Carwile of First Baptist, Tuesday; the Rev. Antoyne Green of New Life Church, Wednesday; the Rev. Clint Coffee of First Christian Church, Thursday; and the Rev. Dayton Wilson of First Presbyterian Church, Friday.

• Spring Revival. Shanghai First Baptist Church will hold its spring revival 6 nightly April 15-17. Dr. Joel Carwile will be guest speaker. The church is at 13435 Elk River Mills Road, Athens. More information: 256-431-4961.

• Easter service. Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 14204 Lucas Ferry Road, Athens, will host an Easter sunrise service 6 a.m. Sunday, April 21. Easter program begins at 10.

• Easter service. The Downs family will hold a special Easter “son rise” service titled “He Has Risen!” at sunrise Sunday, April 21, at 15591 Ripley Road, weather permitting. The Downs family invites the community to celebrate our risen savior at the free event, which includes breakfast at 6 a.m. Jon Downs will speak, and deaf interpretation will be provided. • Men’s conference. Round Island Creek Missionary Baptist Association will host a men’s conference April 26-27. Cost is $120 per church, or the price of 12 tickets. • Health fair. Davids Temple Church will host a health fair and blood drive 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the church on Stewart Road in Tanner. LifeSouth Bloodmobile and Huntsville Hospital’s mobile unit will be present.

• Preschool registration. New Life Assembly of God at 16768 U.S. 72, Athens, is enrolling students for its child-development program. The program, for children ages 6 weeks through prekindergarten, is 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Anyone who recommends someone else is eligible for $25 off the first week’s tuition. • Summer Bible study. Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church will hold summer Bible study at 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 28 at the Pincham-Lincoln Center on Trinity Circle in Athens.
