BIRMINGHAM (AP) — A sheriff’s deputy in Alabama has been arrested on child porn charges.

Al.com reports 56-year-old Phillip Humphries, of Trussville, was taken into custody Wednesday on a charge of possession of obscene material and later released after posting bail. Humphries resigned from his job as a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy after learning of the investigation by the state Attorney General’s Office. It’s unclear what prompted the investigation.

Humphries was hired to work at the sheriff’s office in 1989. The newspaper says additional details of the arrest and allegations weren’t immediately available. It’s unclear if Humphries has a lawyer who can comment on his behalf.
