Austin Lewis hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Ardmore a 16-15 win over West Limestone Thursday evening.

The game had wild momentum swings, as Ardmore built a 10-0 lead after four innings after scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth.

If West Limestone had gone scoreless in the top of the fifth, the game would have ended due to the 10-run mercy rule. However, instead of folding up the tent, the Wildcats came storming back, plating nine runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to a single run. Five West batters were hit by pitches in the inning, while three more Wildcats drew walks. Cooper Phillips had a two-run triple in the inning, while Devin Carter had a run-scoring single.

West then took a 12-11 lead in the top of the sixth inning, but Ardmore came right back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Tucker Reed and a two-run home run by Hogan Whitt. West took the lead again in the top of the seventh, with a two-run single by Phillips giving the Wildcats a 15-14 lead, but Ardmore tied the game in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Woods.

After holding West scoreless in the top of the eighth, Lewis’ hit won it for the Tigers in the bottom of the frame.
