Hannah Usery pitched a three-hit shutout Friday night to lead Elkmont to a 2-0 victory over Mars Hill.
Elkmont scored both of its runs in the bottom of the first inning, which was all Usery needed. She also struck out two batters.
Abby Gooch and Sydney Pressnell each hit an RBI single in the first inning to give the Red Devils a lead they would not relinquish.
Usery also had a hit for Elkmont in addition to her pitching masterpiece.
Harden County (Tenn.) 5, Elkmont 0
Elkmont could only muster one hit against Harden County in a loss Saturday afternoon.
Usery pitched well again, allowing just two earned runs, but Harden County scored two runs in the first and put the game away with three more in the fourth.
Sydney Pressnell had the only hit for Elkmont.
Brooks 7, West Limestone 5
West Limestone dug itself a deep hole and couldn’t quite climb out of it against Brooks Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats were down 7-1 but scored four runs in the top of the fifth to claw back. However, they could get no closer.
Raegen Clem and Allison Perry each had two hits for West, while Chloe Hopkins had two RBIs.
Grissom 11, West Limestone 6
Grissom scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break open a 5-5 game and take the victory over West Limestone last week.
Allison Perry led West with three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. Raegen Clem also homered and Victoria Carroll had a double for the Wildcats. Bella Birdson added two hits in the loss.
