Scottsboro scored its only run in the top of the first inning and held the lead until the fourth, when East Limestone scored two runs on two bases-loaded walks.

Preslei Williams had a hit and an RBI for East Limestone, while Crouch and Mallory Jo Mitchell also had hits. Kaci Sharp, Becca Newby and Cassidy Sowell also had RBIs for the Indians.

Anderson County 2, Athens 1

Athens dropped its first game Monday in the Gulf Coast Classic in Gulf Shores, falling to Anderson County despite collecting eight hits.

Anderson County scored its runs in the first and third innings, while Athens answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth.

However, that was the only run the Golden Eagles could score, as they fell despite the great pitching of Deann Motquin, who didn’t allow an earned run in 5 2/3 innings. Morgan Stiles pitched the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Anna Carder had three hits for Athens, including two doubles, while Emma Ogden had two hits and the only RBI. Mary Greg Anderson also had two hits for the Golden Eagles.
