An Athens man is charged with domestic violence for allegedly injuring a girlfriend and housemate who had sought a protection from abuse in February, then failed to appear, triggering dismissal of the court process on March 7, records show.

Corey Cordell White, 30, of 108 Mills St., was arrested March 17 by Deputy Andrew King on charges of third-degree domestic violence – assault, possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia – first offense, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

On Feb. 26, the woman obtained an arrest warrant for White for abuse said to have occurred on Feb. 23. In seeking the warrant, the woman told the magistrate White struck her in the head and face, causing bruising, and grabbed her by the arm and swung her around, causing bruising.

White was released from the Limestone County Jail after posting bail of $5,500 on the charges.
