Tickets are on sale for the biggest fundraiser of the year for Limestone County’s adoptive and foster families.
The annual spaghetti dinner is a joint affair in 2019, as it will not only raise funds for Limestone County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association but provide an opportunity for community members to aid area homeless individuals as well. Those who purchase tickets to the event can choose to donate their plate or purchase additional plates to be distributed by Hearts for the Homeless.

Maria Tyler, vice president of LCFAPA, said the group hopes to sell 450 to 500 plates this year. The fundraising dinner is scheduled for 4–9 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the Revival building, 301 W. Washington St., Athens.
“The funds we raise go toward events we do for the kids, the Christmas party, training for our foster families and to kind of meet the needs that DHR isn’t able to cover,” Tyler said.
She explained those needs include helping foster children get ready for prom, purchase them a computer for school or even get necessary medical equipment.
“Most of the time DHR is able to help, but maybe not all of the funds, so we can help with those things,” Tyler said. “… We also have a foster care closet, and funds help keep that going and keep up the maintenance on that.”
Plates are $10 for adults and children 11 or older. Children 10 and under are $5 each. Plates include salad, garlic bread, dessert, drink and spaghetti featuring sauce made with Tyler’s family recipe.
Tyler encouraged everyone to purchase tickets early, but said tickets would be available until the day of the event, and also at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 256-777-9900.
