Prep Baseball Roundup: Parker dominates in Elkmont win

Elkmont pitcher Brett Parker put in a dominating performance on the mound to lead the Red Devils to a 5-0 win over Clements Thursday night.

Parker pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout, which included 13 strikeouts and just one walk. The Red Devils offense helped him out by scoring a run in the bottom of the third and then four more runs in the fourth.

Ryan Boyd had two hits for Elkmont, including a double, while Preston Robinson and Chance Pepper had RBIs.

Cole Wales and Dorian McCullough each had a hit for Clements.

Ardmore 5, Decatur 4

Luke Hogan hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Ardmore to a victory over Decatur Thursday night.

Decatur had tied the game with two runs in the top of the seventh, which sent the game to extra innings. The Red Raiders failed to score in the top of the eighth, and Ardmore ended the game in the bottom of the frame on Hogan’s hit.

Hogan finished the game with four hits, while Luke Randolph and Hogan Whitt each hit solo home runs for the Tigers.

Athens Bible 12, New Hope 6

The two teams combined to score 15 runs in the fifth inning, but it was Athens Bible that got the majority of those runs in a victory Thursday.

The Trojans had taken a 3-0 lead with three runs in the bottom of the third inning, but New Hope roared back in the top of the fifth inning with six runs.

However, ABS didn’t stay down for long, scoring nine runs in the bottom of the fifth to reclaim its dominance.

Hayden Pierce had a two-run double in the inning, while Gage Johns, Luke Metcalf, Clayton Hamm and Cade Abernathy each had run-scoring singles.

Hamm led the Trojans with three hits, while Pierce, Abernathy, Johns and Metcalf each had two hits.

Johns pitched the final two innings to pick up the victory.

Brooks 3, Athens 2

Brooks scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the third inning and held on to defeat Athens Tuesday night.

Athens bounced back with a run in the top of the fourth and came close to tying the game in the top of the seventh with another run, but Brooks was able to get the final out to complete the victory.

Tommy White and James Clem each had a hit and an RBI for Athens, while Tyde Robinson and Parker Willoughby also had hits for the Golden Eagles.

Mae Jemison 4, Lindsay Lane 2

Mae Jemison scored all of its runs in the bottom of the third inning and held on to defeat Lindsay Lane Christian despite having just one hit in the game.

Mae Jemison took advantage of three walks, a hit by pitch and an error to score four runs in the third on just one hit.

Lindsay Lane scored single runs in the fourth and seventh innings, but it wasn’t enough.

Camry Peden had an RBI single for Lindsay Lane, while Drew Turpen and Luke Turpen also had hits for the Lions.

Austin 5, East Limestone 2

Ben Petty and Drew Harting each homered for East Limestone, but it wasn’t enough for the Indians against Austin Thursday night.

Austin took an early 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning and held off a potential East Limestone comeback.

Petty hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second, and Harting’s solo blast came in the fifth. Brady Kassay also had a hit for the Indians.

Lauderdale County 6, West Limestone 5

West Limestone had a late lead, but Lauderdale County scored single runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to take a victory Thursday night.

Alec Baugher, Clayton Pugh and Devin Carter each had doubles for the Wildcats, while Dylan Simmons had two RBIs. Branson Owens also had an RBI for West.
