An Athens man accused of sodomizing a boy in 2017 remains jailed today in Limestone County, records show.
Investigator Kristin King with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles Earl Kimbrough Jr., 28, of 17424 Shaw Road, at 10:26 a.m. Friday on a charge of first-degree sodomy, records show. Kimbrough remained in the Limestone County Jail Monday afternoon with bail set at $100,000. Neither his release nor his court date have been set.
On Feb. 17, sheriff’s deputies received a complaint about possible sexual abuse occurring at a residence on Shaw Road, according to King’s report.
The alleged victim, who was interviewed by the Child Advocacy Center in Athens, said the abuse occurred the previous year, around July 2017, at another family member’s home on Shaw Road.
The charge was changed from sexual abuse of a child less than age 12 to first-degree sodomy, based on information obtained in the interview.
Kimbrough was brought to the Sheriff’s Office where he was interviewed and shortly thereafter charged.
