- East Limestone's Austin Harvell goes up for a slam dunk Tuesday against Clements. Harvell scored 12 points as the Indians defeated the Colts 62-30.
A few days after taking area victories over Madison County, East Limestone’s boys and girls basketball teams stepped out of area play to face Clements and came away with a pair of big wins Tuesday night.
The East Limestone boys had three players score in double figures and held Clements to just 12 points in the first half as the Indians ran out to a 62-30 victory.
It is the second big victory the Indians have had against Clements this season, as they defeated the Colts 75-45 last month.
As happened the last time the two teams played, East Limestone got off to a slow start. While they trailed at the end of the first quarter in December, the Indians held an 18-10 lead over the Colts after one quarter Tuesday.
However, East outscored Clements 16-2 in the second quarter to pull away to a 34-12 halftime lead and never looked back in the second half.
Nathan Greene hit five 3-pointers and led the Indians with 17 points. DJ Davis added 14 points while Austin Harvell, who played his first two high school years at Clements before transferring to East before his junior year, tallied 12.
Clements was led by J.T. Farrar, who scored 15 points.

East Limestone had a much easier time with Clements than the last time they played the Colts, stepping up the defense and getting 34 points from sophomore star Jirah Rogers.
While the December game between the two teams came down to the final minute before East held on for a 63-58 win, Tuesday’s game was never in doubt once East Limestone outscored Clements 21-6 in the second quarter to take a 35-14 halftime lead.
Rogers was completely dominant, scoring 24 of East Limestone’s 35 first-half points. It was the second consecutive game Rogers scored 34 points, also posting that number in the Indians’ 55-51 overtime victory over Madison County last Friday.
Vanessa Lopez also scored eight points for the Indians in the victory.
Clements was led by Abby Craig with 14 points and Emrey McGill with 12.
