Up to 3 inches of rain was expected to fall Thursday in Limestone County, and a flash flood warning was in force through 9 a.m. Friday. Showers and storms are likely again this weekend, but calmer, colder weather returns next week as 2019 begins. Highs will hover in the lower 40s by the middle of next week, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.
