A man arrested earlier this month after leaving his girlfriend and infant in a stolen U-Haul while he fled Decatur authorities was arrested again just before Christmas, records show.
Timothy Dewayne Cline, 34, was arrested Dec. 20 after being found inside a stolen car in the 2000 block of Westbury Court Southwest, according to a release from Decatur Police Department.
Officer Patrick Edmondson had been dispatched to a Burger King on Beltline Road in connection with the stolen car, which the officer then found on Westbury Court. The release said Edmondson made contact with the man in the car who identified himself as Dewayne Watts.
After an arrest on misdemeanor charges and a trip to the police department for an interview, DPD said “Watts” was identified as Cline. DPD said Cline had active warrants through the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
The release did not say what the warrants were for or if Cline was transferred to the Limestone County Jail. In an email to The News Courier, Limestone County Sheriff’s Investigator Tim McNeill said there was no record in their system beyond the Dec. 3 arrest related to Cline fleeing from the stolen U-Haul.
However, DPD said an officer “was dispatched to meet with Limestone County to transport Timothy Cline back to the Morgan County Jail” on Dec. 25. Cline is charged with felony obstruction of justice by providing a false name to a law enforcement officer.
