The victim was taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment, according to social media posts from the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office. Her condition was not available.

Farris was released Monday from the Limestone County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond.

Previous arrest

A story in The News Courier shows Farris bit a deputy during an arrest exactly four years before Monday’s shooting.

Then-deputy Jamie King was dispatched to a truck stop Dec. 17, 2014, to find Farris, who had outstanding warrants with the sheriff’s office. After a chase into a wooded area, King and an investigator were able to capture Farris.

According to the arrest report filed by King, the officers wrestled Farris to the ground at one point, and during the struggle, Farris began biting King’s arm.

“One of the times that Corey bit me, he bit down hard and would not release,” King said in the report. “I started telling him to stop and he did not, so I started punching Corey in the ribs and kidney area of his back trying to get him to let go. After a few strikes, Corey let go, and we were able to gain control of Corey’s arms and place him in handcuffs.”

King received medical treatment at Athens-Limestone Hospital for the bite wound.

Farris was charged with attempting to elude and second-degree assault on an officer. He was sentenced Dec. 3, 2015, to 55 months for the assault charge. However, his sentence was suspended pending completion of 20 hours of community service and 24 months on probation, records show.
