Limestone residents and farmers who have scrap tires to recycle may now take them to any of the County Commission’s four sheds, according to a press release.
The program is made possible through a grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. County officials have estimated about 115,000 tires have been recycled because of the program.
Tires may be dropped off between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. They should be loaded into the collection trailers. Dealers are not allowed to leave tires at the sheds.
Shed locations are as follows:
• District 1: 22555 Elkton Road, Athens;
• District 2: 24795 Pepper Road, Athens;
• District 3: 14119 Ripley Road, Athens; and
• District 4: 22155 District 4 Shed Road, Elkmont.
