Prep Basketball: Elkmont gets win over Lexington

Davis Hobbs scored 21 points to lead Elkmont to a 67-51 victory over Lexington. It was the Red Devils’ first win of the season.
Elkmont slowly pulled away throughout the game. The Red Devils led just 18-14 after one quarter, but expanded the lead to 35-23 at halftime. Elkmont then outscored Lexington 17-12 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Elkmont had four players in double figures. Layton Smith had 14 points, while Ben Hobbs had 11 and Ryan Boyd scored 10. Preston Robinson chipped in with nine.
Lexington was led by Tyler Cruse, who had 16 points. Kane West had 14 points and Austin Gray added 10.
James Clemens boys 60, East Limestone 53
East Limestone hung tough with James Clemens, but without several players who are still playing for the Indians football team, they didn’t quite have enough to defeat the Class 7A Jets.
James Clemens led 12-10 after one quarter and pushed the lead to 27-17 at halftime. East Limestone cam back in the third quarter to cut the lead 36-31 after three quarters, but James Clemens was able to hold the Indians off in the final period.
Austin Harvell led East Limestone with 25 points and 10 rebounds. James Clemens was led by Garrett Hicks with 22 points and A.J. McGinnis with 11.

Wilson girls 54, Clements 47
Wilson outscored Clements 20-13 in the fourth quarter to turn a tie game into a seven-point victory over the Colts.
The game was close throughout. Wilson led 19-12 after one quarter, but Clements came back to tie the game 25-25 at halftime. Each team scored nine points in the third quarter, and the game was tied 34-34 heading into the final period.
Emrey McGill led Clements with 18 points while Abby Craig scored 13 for the Colts. Wilson was led by Liza Storie with 17 points, Sidney Bevis with 16 and Tori Walker with 12.
