Shred Day event around the corner

The Better Business Bureau of North Alabama along with the Athens chapter of the American Association of Retired People will host the annual Shred Day and Drug Takeback event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 10.
This year the event will be at Athens Middle School parking lot, 100 U.S. 31.

Those interested in protecting their identity can bring up to three bags or boxes of paper documents to be shredded.
Electronics, including anything that plugs in or runs on batteries, can also be dropped off for recycling. Large appliances will not be accepted, and there is a $10 recycling fee for TVs.
The Athens Police Department will also be on hand to take back leftover or unneeded over-the-counter-drugs and prescription medications, including controlled substances. Needles and liquids will not be accepted.
Shred Day sponsors include Athens and Limestone County, Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce, McClary Ford, Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful, Athens Police Department, Secure Destruction, Jackson Plumbing Heating and Cooling, The News Courier, Quest Prevention Services and Athens-Limestone Recycling Center.
