Hospice, MADD remembrance event
The 2018 Celebration of Remembrance and Hope Memorial Service, sponsored by Hospice of Limestone County and MADD, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Athens. All Limestone County residents are invited and encouraged to bring a photograph of their loved one in a stand-up frame for the memorial service table. A candle-lighting ceremony will honor the memories of loved ones ahead of the holiday season. Fellowship and refreshments to follow service.
Get-out-the-vote rallies
The Limestone branch of the NAACP will hold a get-out-the-vote rally 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Lincoln-Bridgeforth Park, 815 Westview Ave., Athens. In a final bid to get out the vote for the Nov. 6 mid-term election, the Alabama NAACP is partnering with several organizations in a five-county rally that begins this weekend. NAACP branches holding rallies include Limestone, Mobile, Birmingham, Montgomery and the combined forces of the Lawrence, Morgan and Tri-County branches. Toys for Tots
The U.S. Marine Corps and United Way of Athens-Limestone County will be accepting applications for the Toys for Tots Program 9 a.m.–noon and 1–4 p.m. Nov. 7 and 8 at the United Way of Athens-Limestone County office, 419 S. Stuff-A-Truck food drive
First United Methodist Church will sponsor the 8th annual Stuff-A-Truck event to help feed Limestone County’s hungry through Limestone County Churches Involved. The event will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in the parking lot of First National Bank, at the corner of U.S. 72 and Lindsay Lane. Homeless donations needed
Lil Red Wagon Collections at 208 N. Houston St., Athens, is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. the first week of each month to collect donations for local homeless people. Donated items will be given to Limestone County Churches Involved, which will distribute the items.
