Athens State University’s Alpha Iota Chapter of the Delta Mu Delta Honor society was recently named a 2018 Star Chapter by the international organization for business students.

The Athens State chapter is one of 20 recipients out of approximately 360 chapters for the 2018 fiscal year ending in June, ranking it among the top 5 percent of chapters worldwide. The chapter is also noted as the most award-winning Star Chapter in the organization’s history with 17 annual recognitions. Dr. Kim Roberts and Dr. John Berzett were chapter advisors for the 2018 fiscal year.

Star Chapters must meet or exceed Society standards for chapter operation and administration. In addition, Star Chapters must either induct at least 80 percent of their eligible candidates or more candidates than the previous year, participate in the scholarship program, and complete community-service projects or business-related activities on campus.

The Alpha Iota Chapter is very active on the Athens State campus. They sponsor members to attend leadership conferences, co-sponsor an annual canned food drive and co-sponsor workshops that assist students in the job search and interview processes.
