This year’s Shakespeare on the Green at Martin Methodist College will feature William Shakespeare’s comedy “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” according to a press release.
Serving as director of the play is English Professor Dr. Kayla Wiggins.
“’Midsummer Night’s Dream’ is probably Shakespeare’s funniest and most relatable comedy,” said Wiggins. “It has everything: young love, woods, fairies, magic, and a hysterical play-within-the-play. It’s the perfect entertainment for the whole family. While I’ve directed it twice before, it never gets old, and this cast is wonderful. Come join us for Shakespeare under the stars.”
While many current MMC students are in the cast as Martin Players, there are also faculty members, staff members, and community members helping with this year’s production.
The cast is as follows:
• Robert Austell as Theseus/Oberon;
• Lydia Wossum-Fisher as Hippolyta/Titania;
• Eli Fisher as Egeus/ Flute;
• Daarte Matteau as Hermia;
• Gavin Stone as Demetrius;
• Evan Hill as Lysander;
• Sydney Gregory as Helena;
• Skylar Lovvo as Quince/Starveling;
• Trevor Ivey-Bodman as Bottom;
• Maddie Chapman as Snug/Cobweb/Mustardseed;
• McKinley Heard as Snout/Fairy/Peaseblossom; and
• Fayth Dennis as Puck.
The crew helping Wiggins bring this production to life features Annslee Swann on lights, Michelle Hanks on set, and Heather Scherr on costumes.
The performances will be held at 7 p.m. October 19-22 at the Grissom Gazebo located on the Campus Green. In the event of weather, the production will be held in Martin Hall Auditorium.
Admission is free, and the community is encouraged to attend.
