- Deputies found two women dead and a third stabbing herself inside a home in the 10000 block of West Schoolhouse Road, Lester, Wednesday morning.
Two women found stabbed to death early Wednesday in the Lester community have been identified as a mother and daughter, an official said.
Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Stephen Young said the victims were 44-year-old Rosa Aminta Maldonado and 19-year-old Rosa Lee Maldonado. The women died of apparent stab wounds, but their bodies were sent to the state forensics lab in Huntsville for autopsies.
Young said a knife was used in the attack.
The incident, which occurred in a mobile home in the 10000 block of West Schoolhouse Road, was reported to 911 shortly after 1 a.m. The call was made by someone inside the home.
When deputies entered the home, they found a 15-year-old female stabbing herself in the head and neck. She was taken to Huntsville Hospital, where she remained in critical condition Wednesday.
“Preliminary evidence indicates (the 15-year-old) stabbed and killed her sister and mother in a domestic altercation at the residence, eventually using a knife on herself as well in a suicide attempt,” Young said. “However, the investigation remains open and new details may emerge.”
