ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) — A memorial for fallen Alabama firefighters has been dedicated in the city of Anniston.
The ceremonies took place Tuesday at Anniston’s Centennial Park.
WBRC-TV reports that the memorial, which sits across from the state law enforcement memorial, was dedicated as part of a 9/11 memorial service.
The memorial is a wall inscribed with the names of firefighters who died in the line of duty.
During the ceremony, the name of Tracy Sanders was uncovered.
Sanders was killed in a traffic accident in January 2017 while running errands for the Mount Olive Volunteer Fire Deparment, where she served as the department’s first ever female chief.
