Elkmont blanked by Deshler

Deshler scored early and often against Elkmont Friday night, and when it was over, the Tigers raced away with a 65-0 victory.
Deshler scored 28 points in the first quarter to put the game away early, and then scored 14 more in the second quarter to take a 42-0 lead into halftime.
Kameron Pritchard scored the first touchdown on a 5-yard run before William Pilgrim added a score with a 19-yard run. Pritchard scored Deshler’s third touchdown of the first quarter on a 19-yard run.
The next two touchdowns were defensive scores, as Greg Champion ran a fumble back 40 yards for a score late in the first quarter and Hayden Stutts had an interception return for a touchdown late in the second quarter.
Deshler’s final touchdown of the first half came on a 49-yard touchdown pass from Pilgrim to Stutts.
The first touchdown of the second half was also a defensive touchdown, as Teondre Goodloe recovered a fumble and ran it back 15 yards for a score.
Pritchard scored another touchdown to make it 56-0 before an Elkmont punt attempt went awry and wound up being a safety. The final touchdown came in the fourth quarter when Thomas Newsome scored on a 14-yard run.
Elkmont had just 38 yards of total offense, including -7 rushing yards. The Red Devils also had five turnovers, with three of them being returned for touchdowns.
Braxton Cox was Elkmont’s leading receiver, with one catch for 19 yards. Ben Hobbs and Nick Gibson both had 4.5 tackles for the Red Devils defense.
Elkmont hosts West Limestone next Friday.
