Clements had about as bad a start to the game as a team could have, but thanks to a dominating defense and some explosive plays from Jairrice Pryor, the Colts recovered to take a 32-6 win over Tanner and start their season 2-0.
The Colts’ defense held Tanner to -48 rushing yards and 10 yards total while Pryer ran for 188 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.

But the game didn’t begin so well for Clements, as on the Colts’ second offensive play, the snap went over quarterback Cole Wales’ head and was batted back into the end zone. Tanner’s Alex Guster fell on the ball for the touchdown that put the Rattlers up 6-0 just 30 seconds into the game.
Both teams were adversely affected by a heavy downpour that began about 15 minutes before kickoff and continued for half an hour. The teams combined for six turnovers in the first half, with four of them lost fumbles on the wet and slippery field.
After spotting Tanner a 6-0 lead, the Colts came back late in the first quarter, as Pryor broke loose up the middle for a 71-yard touchdown run, which put Clements up 7-6 after the extra point.
The Colts stretched the lead early in the second quarter, as Wales found Hunter Norwood behind the defense for a 29-yard touchdown pass. Turnovers and penalties dominated the rest of the half, and Clements went into the locker room with a 13-6 advantage.
The Colts put the game away in the third quarter, as the Clements defense continued to dominate while the Colts’ offense found a rhythm.
Pryor scored his second touchdown of the game on an 11-yard run midway through the third, while Wales hit Jonathan Thompson on a screen pass, which he turned into a 57-yard touchdown to put Clements up 26-6 in the final minute of the quarter.
